Chulu West (6419m) is one of very popular “trekking peaks” of Nepal, which normally are not technically demanding and do not pose serious challenges in their ascent. This is true to Chulu West, a beautiful peak in the Manang Himal that makes the northern border of a small valley north of Manang Village, a popular stopover in the Annapurna Circuit Trek. In fact, what makes Chulu West so popular is also its location along the Annapurna Circuit, near the famed Thorung La Pass. You just add some four days to the legendary Annapurna trek, and you come back not only with the experience of world’s one of the famous trekking trails with one of Nepal’s highest passes, but also with the tantalizing taste of mountaineering.

 

Chulu peak is one of the most splendid and beautiful peaks in the whole Himalayans. It is part of the bigger Damodar Himal range of Manang in western Nepal, which runs south from Chako Peak (6,687m) in north-south direction along the Nar, Phu and Hunlung Khola. It is also considered as the best peak in Annapurna region. The trekking trail for Chulu west peak climbing is a memorable route which provides the most beautiful views of surrounding peaks as well as lush green forests of Nepal.

Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Hotel in Kathmandu

Upon arrival in Kathmandu Airport, our airport representative will welcome you and give you short info about Kathmandu and directly drive to the Hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 02: Sightseeing for a full day in Kathmandu Valley.

World heritage sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhu Nath, Boudha Nath, Pasupati Nath, etc. Preparation for the trekking.

 

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Dharapani (1,950m)

Today, we are going to be hopping on a personal vehicle associated head towards Dharapani that is located within the Manang district at an altitude of one, 1890 meters. It’s possible to require taking eight hours to reach Dharapani from Kathmandu through a drive. We are going to be staying at Dharapani.

 

Day 04: Trek Dharapani to Chame (2,630m)

Our actual trek begins from the fourth day of our Chulu Far east climbing peak as we head towards Chame from Dharapani. It is likely to take us six hours to reach an altitude of 2,695 meters where Chame is situated at. The further we move, the more we get closer to the astounding existence of the Himalayas like the Annapurna massif. The trek brings us more close to the existence of Lamjung valley. However, we will be staying overnight at Chame.

 

Day 05: Trek Chame to Pisang (3,475m)

oday, we will be leaving Chame after early morning breakfast and head for Pisang which is situated at an elevation of 3,475 meters. It will take us about six hours to reach Pisang as we make our way through the beautiful forest decorated with pines and rhododendrons. We will be encountered with various Tibetan settlements along the way and make our way through the barley and buckwheat fields. As we get closer to the Pisang village, we will be rewarded with the gracious sight of Pisang peak which will make our whole trek worth it. We will be staying overnight at Pisang village.

 

Day 06: Lower Pisang - Manang Village 3540m

Today, after having early morning breakfast at Lower Pisang, we will be heading for Manang Village which is situated at an elevation of 3,540 meters. It is likely to take us about five to six hours to get there. As we go along the trials, we can get the mesmerizing sight of Yaks grazing in the grassland. We will certainly be welcomed with joyous faces as we reach the village. We will be staying overnight at Manang Village.

 

Day 07: Acclimatization Day at Manang

Our seventh day of the trek is separated for acclimatizing purposes in which we will be conducting exercises with the involvement of short walks at and around Manang Village. You can seize the opportunity to explore and observe the serene beauty of the village and hike to Gangapurna Glacier Lake or hike up to the lap of the mountain to take blessing from a local Tantric guru.

 

Day 08: Trek to Ledar (4373m)

Today we head off on a 10.4 km uphill trek to Yak Kharka passing through juniper forests and may see yak grazing in the pastures. On the route, we pass the only teahouse at Thorong Khola. Depending on the conditions we may decide to go a little further and stay the night at Ledar. Today’s trek is about 5 hours. Breakfast, lunch &dinner included.

 

Day 09: Leder to Chulu West Base Camp (4,900m)

Today, we continue our trekking from Leder to Chulu West Base Camp. From the Base Camp, we can enjoy the views of Annapurna Himalayas. We may also like to discover the surrounding areas. At this point, we will set up our camp for overnight stay.

 

Day 10: Chulu West base camp to High Camp (5,100m)

From the Chulu Base Camp, we continue hiking towards High Camp. The route is not that technical. But it would be better to remember that we are climbing on high altitudes. At this juncture we relish the magnificent views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains including Manaslu, Gangapurna and Lamjung Himal.

 

Day 11: Summit Chulu West and back to Base Camp (4,900m)

It is our summit day, and it is going to be long day. Therefore, we would wake up much earlier today. Each moment we have to work hard through the icy high-altitude trail but the outstanding high Himalayan scenes are such tempting that our eyes love to watch more over the horizon than on our trail. After summiting, we return back to Base Camp.

 

Day 12: Base Camp to Thorong Pedi (4,600m)

we will be trekking towards Thorong Phedi and head towards an elevation of 4,450 meters. We will be moving through a narrow valley of Kone Khola which is indeed very beautiful. Then after some hours of walk, we will reach Thorong Phedi which is regarded as the Base Camp of Thorong La Pass. We will be staying overnight at Thorong Phedi.

 

Day 13: Thorong Phedi to Thorong la (5,416m) pass and Trek to Muktinath (3,798m)

After having early morning breakfast at Thorong Phedi, we will leave for Muktinath. Along the path, we will be ascending towards Thorong La pass which is one of the highest passes in the world delivering the most astounding mountain scenarios along with the views of valleys and landscapes. We will gain the whole view of Annapurna massif from the Thorong La pass. We will then be heading downwards from the pass to reach Muktinath which is situated at an elevation of 3800 meters. We will be staying overnight at Muktinath.

 

Day 14: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,750m)

On the Fourteenth day, we will be leaving Muktinath after a gracious visit to the Muktinath temple which stands upon religious beliefs and mythical stories. Our destination for the day is Jomsom. We will be heading towards Jomsom alongside the beautiful Kali Gandaki River. We will be staying overnight at Jomsom.

 

Day 15: Fly from Jomson to Pokhara (8,50M)

Today is our last day as we head to the small airport terminal at Jomson where we take a short 15 to 20-minute flight to Pokhara. Once airborne you will have some amazing views of the Himalayas. This evening you can sit back and relax, enjoy and drink or two and look back on your amazing adventure through the amazing Annapurna Conservation Area – stroll along Lakeside. Other attractions in Pokhara are the World Peace Pagoda (clearly visible across Phewa Tal (lake), Bindabasini Temple, Phewa Lake, Matepani Buddhist Monastery, International Mountain Museum and Devi's Falls.

 

Day 16: Drive back to Kathmandu (1,350M)

Today we head back on a 6 to 7-hour drive to Kathmandu with many fond memories of Nepal and its unique culture and geography. These memories will last a lifetime!

 

Day 17: Drive to the Airport, takeoff from Kathmandu

Adventure High Mountain staff will transfer you to the airport for your final departure from Nepal. We hope that this epic trek will be firmly ingrained in your memory and will be enough to prompt you to consider your next trek with us!
